SURPRISE!
Okay so brace yourselves because Josh and I bought our first house together! We are seriously SO stinkin excited. I could scream!! Anyways, we are still in the closing process so “technically” it’s not officially ours yet. With that being said, I won’t be sharing any crazy details about this home (even though its SO COOL) just yet. Once we close and the house is officially ours I’ll be sharing just about every detail. Make sure you check back in about a month so that you can see all of the before pictures and learn a little bit about this specific house. Below I have shared tiny snippets of my inspiration boards for each room.
What I can tell you now.
- 3 bedrooms
- Tiny attached addition
- Large kitchen
- Dining Room
- Creepy basement (so scary that I will probably never go down there until its pretty.)
- 2 bathrooms
- 2 car garage
- Sun room/breezeway
Our plans!
Something I feel the need to share is that my wants change just about every hour so in a month, my plans may be a tiny bit different. The great thing is that my dad is a home inspector and has done so much work to his house that he is a professional when it comes to safety. We are so thankful to have his expertise on all of these subjects that we are pretty clueless about. Also, my mom is amazing at designing (and cleaning) so it will be really great to have another set of eyes and design skills. I would like everything to be very earthy. Essentially I am shooting for lots of whites, greens, browns and copper! SO HERE WE GO!
KITCHEN
Thoughts: White walls, butcher block counter tops, marble island, farmhouse sink, copper accents, plants everywhere, open shelving, green or white cabinets & wood floors! This is where we spend most of our time so we would really love this room to be amazing!
DINING ROOM
Thoughts: Cohesive with kitchen, Earthy, Rustic, Repurposed materials. We want this to be the place we can entertain the most! I love entertaining so this room is important to me.
LIVING ROOM
Thoughts: This is obviously the place that I will be going all out to decorate for each and every holiday.
BATHROOM 1: Upstairs
Thoughts: Josh REALLY wants a stand alone tub. With only one main bathroom we also need a shower. I wanted to create a place where theres lots of room for the both of us to get ready in the morning and move around without us falling all over each other.
BATHROOM 2: Downstairs/Powder room
Thoughts: Since the upstairs bathroom is going to be very earthy and spa like, I want the downstairs bathroom to be fun!
BEDROOM 1: Master/Our Bedroom
Thoughts: Earthy, bright, cozy, all about us.
BEDROOM 2: Guest Bedroom (This is where you will stay when you spend the night with us!)
Thoughts: Be our guest! We want this room to be comfy and cozy just for you. This will be your little getaway when you visit.
BEDROOM 3: Sami Saunders Studio Office (YAY)
Thoughts: This will be the most wonderful office ever. I would love this room to mimic my brand and keep me fully inspired as I work the day away. You can find me here!
SUNROOM:
Thoughts: Entry way into the back of the house, take your shoes off, wash those puppy paws, hang your coat and come on in!
ADDITION: Photo Studio for Sami Saunders Studio
Thoughts: Come get your photos done here! Many fun, styled shoots will be created in this space.
GARAGE: Josh’s work area
Thoughts: This will be the space Josh uses to work on his car, build and create.
BASEMENT: Game room/Wine cellar
Thoughts: Josh’s place to decorate and have fun with! ALSO WINE CELLAR!! (My aunt thought of this genius idea when I was telling her how creepy this basement is.)

One last thing!
So I know what you’re thinking, “where the crap are they getting all of this money to do this?”. Here’s my answer. We are handy, crafty and love to repurpose. No, our home may not look like these pictures but we are going to try our hardest to create our perfect home for this stage of our lives. I will be including posts along the way of how we built things or created different areas of our space. When we close on this house, I will also include some bigger details that will help tie all of your questions together.
Stay tuned for more!!
