Okay so as the title says, let’s get back to it!
2017 was an extremely busy year for me. Let’s do a quick little recap.
January 2017-
Officially started my photography business, Samantha Caun Photography
March 2017-

(Im also not a very patient person, just saying)

September 2017-
Got hitched. Josh and I had our tiny little wedding that was planned entirely from scratch. Also, I moved to Grove City this month.
This photo was taken by my very talented friend Becca
October 2017-
Josh and I start the process of buying our first home. Oh, this house was in Grove City just in case you didn’t read the post before this. It was BEAUTIFUL. The house was built in the 1800’s and was considered a historical home of the town. We were all set to move and one week before we closed on the house, Josh was relocated to Washington PA.
(At this point I thought I would be screaming GIVE ME A BREAK! but I really wanted to be back in Pittsburgh so I was very okay with this.)
At this point I changed my business name to Sami Saunders Studio.
November 2017-
Just about everyday Josh and I were traveling to and from Pittsburgh to Grove City together. We looked at apartments so that we could move because our lease was up in December.
December 2017-
Josh and I move to Pittsburgh! This is also the month we adopted our little Winston puppy.
I know to some of you this doesn’t seem like a lot BUT it was. I was very overwhelmed in 2017 trying to keep my business a float as well as plan a wedding and move and live a normal human life.
Here are some things I want you guys to know about stress and what it can do to you.
-I had food allergies and they got worse. Yes, I know you’re probably looking at your phone right now saying “no way stress doesn’t make your body have reactions like that” WRONG! It totally does. I had to carry allergy pills with me in my wallet everywhere I went.
-I lost 17 pounds. This is not me telling you that stress will help your weight loss journey. In fact, it could also have the opposite effect on you. Listen, I was a rail. So skinny that I looked like I was wearing a diaper because the butt of my pants sagged and wouldn’t stay up. Nothing fit me properly which made me even more angry. All of my muscle just went away.
-I had many many crashes. I remember the days where I was so mentally drained that I felt like I couldn’t properly communicate with the people around me. It would take me an entire minute to finish a sentence.
-My skin was like sandpaper. I am still trying to fix this issue but my skin started developing spots of very dry patches.
-I was mad, irritated, annoyed and just about any negative thing you can think of. I didn’t want to be around anyone during this time. There were a handful of folks who I would spend time with but for the most part I couldn’t handle it.
Busy is a glorified term that people are striving for.
Stop.
If I could give you any tip in the world right now, it would be to give yourself permission to slow down. Take care of yourself. That means to stay hydrated, put on that face mask, don’t be skimpy on the moisturizer, keep close to your faith, take a shower, eat food that nourishes your body and breathe.
With all of this said, it is now the end of January. I took this past month to myself. I spent time with Josh and a ton of time with Winston. I decorated parts of our home and got back into cooking. I stayed far from social media most days and hid my phone in my room to avoid the world. I can honestly say to you that I feel SO much better. I can finally eat! I haven’t had an allergy pill with me this entire month. I have had a few small reactions to dairy but nothing major. My sleep patterns are becoming normal and I am so so so happy.
Today, I came back to my blog to find that it was hacked. There were posts that I definitely didn’t write. Last year me would have probably thrown my computer out of my window, threw a tantrum and quit but today, I sat here as I looked at my screen and laughed. So what my blog was hacked! Ill just add additional security measures so that it won’t happen again. I deleted those weird posts and moved forward. If you read my old posts and notice some broken links or missing photos just skip over it. They’re probably gone forever and at this point were going full speed ahead.
So now that Im back, I want to tell you what I would LOVE to share with everyone this year.
- FOOD! I love food!! Im allergic to egg and have a sensitivity to dairy. I want to share some of the awesome recipes we have that are SO GOOD.
- ADVENTURE! Josh and I started this blog because of our crazy love for travel and each other. We have so many awesome tips that we want to share with the world about traveling and road tripping.
- HOME! Im alittle to in love with our little townhouse right now. We rent it too so everything we have done to it is able to be restored back to original condition when we move out. I would be so happy if I could show you how we did some of these things. It looks so cool!
- PUP! Winston has brought me so much happiness I can’t even really put it into words.
- SKIN LOVE! I know I said that weird but because of my dry patchy skin I have had to try plenty of products to make it better. I’ll share the ones that worked and the ones that didn’t so you don’t have to waste your money.
- LIFE! Really though, this blog is actually a place where Josh and I can share our lives with people who care. Its kind of like our scrapbook thats online. We want to share some things about our wedding, our faith and our lives together!
If you got to the bottom of this post, thanks for staying with me and reading along!! I appreciate you and your support so so much. Now let’s get back to it!
Here’s another photo of Winston. Why? Because I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!! LOOK AT THAT FACE!
YAY
